During the Holy Mass on January 9, 2006, Bro. Jong John KIM BONG was given the mission cross.

The confreres in the region organized a small send off for Jong John in the same evening. He said that he was going with out any expectations and leaving the rest to God. When the priests prayed over him, there were tears in his eyes.

He is the first SVD Brother from Korea and is appointed to Ecuador. After his final vows he did social welfare studies for 2 years and is now ready for his mission.

Although Korea is a very small region (with just 17 confreres), it was willing to send one of its confreres to a foreign mission.
