Project to link the lay missionaries

During the meeting of the mission secretaries of the zone, in February 2005, one of the decisions was to prepare a preliminary draft for a project to link up the lay missionaries in the zone, associated with the SVD.

The group set up to prepare the draft met together at El Algarrobo (the summer residence of the province of Chile) from October 24-29, 2005. Seven Representatives from Paraguay, Argentina, Brazil, and Chile took part in the meeting.

The group concentrated on a practical programme to prepare lay missionaries, who want to join the SVD efforts in PANAM, rather than indulge in long theological reflections.

The meeting was hosted by the mission secretary of Chile. The group has prepared a preliminary draft which is sent to all the Provincials and Mission Secretaries of the zone.

Observations and corrections to the draft are expected to be complete by January 2006.
