Workshop on Human Trafficking

A workshop on Human Trafficking and Domestic Workers was organized at Shanti Bhavan, Jharsuguda from December 1-2, 2005, by Fr. G. John CHRISTOPHER.

The resource persons were Fr. Alphonse Toppo, Vicar General of Sambalpur Diocese, Sr. Pratiti and Sr. Sophia, Ursuline Sisters from Domestic Workers Forum, New Delhi and Dr. Joachim and Sr. Manju, HM from UPAYA Community College, Ramabahal.

The troupe from St. Arnold Vikas Sanchar (SAVS), the regional communication centre, performed a touching and thought-provoking street play on human trafficking, moving the participants to shed tears.

The resource persons helped the participants to understand the problem of trafficking of women and its causes. It is hoped that this workshop will bring more awareness about this vicious problem.
