ROME/ITALY
Rome Sub-region Annual Meeting

On 1 December 2005 the annual meeting of the Roman sub-region of the Catholic Biblical Federation (CBF) took place at Collegio del Verbo Divino. It was chaired by Fr. Guido TISERA, the Generalate biblical coordinator.

Nine contact persons representing their respective institutions were present. Fr. Tisera represented the SVD Generalate as an associate member of the CBF.

The annual meetings provide an occasion to report on the activities of each member and to discuss matters concerning the biblical apostolate, in particular the presence of CBF in Rome and its contribution to this special sub-region.

The reports present the activities of the member institutions. Not all institutions fully follow the specific commitments and recommendations made by the CBF. For instance, SOBICAIN (Societ Biblica Cattolica Internazionale) as a CBF member is involved in the spread of the biblical text, using the means of social communication. In particular, it is promoting Bible translations with a more pastoral orientation.

The CICM as a religious congregation does not have any structure to promote the biblical apostolate; however, the practice of lectio divina is gaining ground in their congregation. We Divine Word Missionaries are blessed with a clear structure and vision as how to pursue biblical ministry.

For every member of the CBF what is important is a commitment to the promotion of biblical pastoral ministry and to making the Word of God accessible to all.
