Another Award for Fr. Marianus Zelazek


Fr. Marian ZELAZEK has received the prestigious Sergio D’Mello Award for his outstanding service to the less privileged people of Puri.

Mr. Sergio D’Mello, the Brazilian born UN envoy in Iraq, was killed in a bomb explosion in Baghdad, four years ago.

The award was instituted Villa Decius with the partnership of UNHCR, ZNAK Foundation, and Consulate General of the USA in Krakow in 2003 and is given to persons or NGOs for active involvement in peaceful coexistence and cooperation of communities, religions and denominations, and cultures.

In 2004, it was conferred on Mr. Mazowiecki, the former Prime Minister of Poland.
