ST AUGUSTIN/GERMANY
Help for the Street Children in Congo

A group in the Rhein-Sieg High School, which raises funds for projects in third world countries, organized a special celebration at St. Augustin to mark their 25 years of service.

“We wanted to really practice solidarity” said Walter Lersch one of the five teachers, who along with some students founded the group 25 years ago.

They collected a tidy sum of € 15,800, in just two weeks, and handed over the sum to the SVD for the cause of street children in Kinshasa. The group had supported agricultural projects in Flores.

In the past 17 years it has collected € 152,000 for various projects for the street children in Kinshasa.

The celebration included informative talks on the continent, many cultural programmes from Africa and a special African Market. It concluded with an ecumenical prayer service prepared by our seminarians from St. Augustin.
