KHANDWA/INDIA
A new cathedral blessed

The newly built cathedral was dedicated by Apostolic Nuncio, Mons. Pedro Lopez Quintana, on December 11, 2005. A civic reception to the dignitaries present and an evening of cultural programmes followed the blessing.

Khandwa diocese was divided from the diocese of Indore in 1997. In 1999 Mons. Leo CORNELIO was appointed its first bishop. The young diocese has 30,000 Catholics (0.93% of the total population) in 30 parishes.

The new spacious cathedral replaces the old parish church which was too small to serve the present catholic population.
