100-minute Bible is launched

According to the BBC News of September 21, 2005, a new version of the Bible has been launched.

The 100-Minute Bible, written for those who do not have the time to read the full version, was unveiled at the Canterbury Cathedral. So far more than 11,000 copies have been distributed to churches and schools. It is the size of a notebook.

It took Michael Hinton (the author) more than two years to cut down the 66 books of the Bible (Protestant version) into a version that could be read in just 100 minutes.

Instead of 780,000 words and 1,200 chapters, there are just 20,000 words in fewer than 60 pages. The passages selected are mostly those which have entered the common consciousness – for example, the story of Noah’s ark.

The new version of the Bible has aroused both favorable and unfavorable reactions.
