SEOUL/SOUTH KOREA
AIDS centre in Gwangju

The SVDs have opened a shelter for the HIV/AIDS patients, at Gwangju, South Korea. There are ten patients in the shelter. Fr. Benedict KIM is the director of this community.

On August 15th on the feast of Assumption of Our Lady, the patients were baptized in the parish of Ko Nam Dong Church. They were either Protestant or had no religion. Among the converts one wanted to have the name of our founder Saint Arnold. So he was baptized with that name.

Actually, they are facing a slow but sure death. We are happy that they are born new in Christ. I think being born new is the concern of human life. They are also made to realize how important they are, in the eyes of God. There is also the aspect of healing in this process. (Inba Raj Michael)
