100 years of Anthropos Magazine

The International Magazine Anthropos marks 100 years of its publication, this year. The first volume of this magazine was published in 1906. Fr. William SCHMIDT was the founder and the first editor of the magazine.

The magazine provided a forum for missionaries to publish and share the results of their research particularly in the context of missionary activities. Anthropos enjoys high reputation in the academic circles for professional articles published in it, in the area of fundamental studies in the relationship between religion and culture. Articles are published in the original languages (mainly German, English, French, Spanish and Italian).

It is published twice a year with about 40 articles, 120 book reviews and many references. The 800 or so copies are sent to 60 countries. During the past century a total of more than 82,000 pages have been published in the Anthropos. (steyler.de)
