National Seminar on Contextual Mission and Ministry

A National Seminar on Contextual Mission and Ministry was organized in New Delhi from August 2 - 6, 2005, for the SVD Missionaries working in the four Indian Provinces by Stanislaus LAZAR, the National Mission Secretary and Provincial Mission Secretaries.

85 confreres who were ordained between 1985 and 1994 participated in the seminar. Talks by prominent personalities from the fields of politics, law, education, science and communications inspired and enlightened the group. A panel of confreres presented their reflections on people’s expectations of a priest, the future of SVD in India.

Following a discussion, the participants presented five ministries that need our attention immediately: Ministry towards HIV-AIDS, Social Empowerment, Prophetic Dialogue and Communal Harmony, Ministry of the Word, and Education. (Lazar Stanislaus)
